I'm considering re-install Max and vray as a next step. I do not know that, or anything else for sure.
If you figure out which footage causes the freeze, try to compare it's properties with other footage in the project (if it's different) and find the difference. Mine was always that old SD mpeg2 footage bit (while other footage was of different formats). I don't think it's a conflict with something in the scene. Also, please check which frame it freezes rendering on, if it's the same spot every time.

My intuitiin is that something is wrong with the system or the max install or something. The project file was still set to the project with the scene I'm having such trouble with. (At 1142 PM last night it saved an autobak of 3MB That is probably when I was testing a nearly empty scene and trying to merge stuff in. Last apparently good autobak was yesterday at 2:35 PM and the file is 542 MB. It was as of yesterday but it's not anymore. It is set to autobak every 10 minutes but it's not doing that. I have noticed that the autobak is not working. It took that thing hours to render an hour long1080P video. Place the can or cans where it will be hit by the water, and time how long it takes to.

I have now managed to get the complete scene to render using progressive set for 10 minutes. Blender takes up to 6 hours to render the video, and produce a file of about 2.5 GB. I do not have a second computer.Ģ) My understanding is I can only have one vray on my computer so not sure how to go back and forth with various versions and etc?
